Okay, I know Wednesday is already game night and Thursday is ice cream night, but is anybody up for dinner and/or a movie on Friday night? Let me know via the comments!

This explains the ridiculous picture now accompanying my comments.

November is National Novel Writing Month, and this year, I'm giving it a go. Starting Nov. 1, I'll be posting updates to my novel in progress at my very own, very first blog. Wish me luck!

"I Like Stories!"

Celtic Knot in Evanston is hosting a storytelling event this Sunday (the 22nd) at 8 o'clock. I need to attend a storytelling event and write about it for my storytelling class, and plan to attend this one. So, who else is interested? I'm planning to arrive around 6:30 to grab a seat and some food and drink before the stories begin. There's more info on their website: http://www.celticknotpub.com (look at the sidebar on the right, under "special events"). This event seems to be intended for adults, so don't let, "storytelling is for kiddies!" be your excuse for not coming. :)

A real knee-slapper

Wow, I knew the New York Post had no class, but jeez, even for them...

some of the best things in life are free...

i was at dominick's today buying things i forgot to get yesterday. i'm wandering the aisles b/c the store has been remodeled recently and i still don't know where half the stuff is, but (try to contain your shock) i wound up in the liquor department.

well, since i was there, i figured i may as well look around and see if anything caught my eye (read=was on sale). the wine department specialist dude (he had an apron that said wine specialist, so i was willing to go with it) was helping some other folks find stuff, and as they walked away, he said what could be some of the most glorious words ever uttered in the english language:

"free tequila samples! stop on by for free tequila!"

i did a double-take...free tequila? did i hear this man correctly? am i in an alternate universe? did i miss the unicorns outside? wtf?

"free tequila, ma'am. come on by when you're done browsing."

so, of course, i had to stop by. apparently cuervo is pushing their new aged tequila. the specialist dude asked if i wanted it straight or mixed with coca-cola.

i sniffed and swirled and knocked the mini-shot back. it's smooth, alright, but holy shit does it have a kick.

"it's on sale for $16.99 until the 11th."

did i buy a bottle? nope. paying for a bottle would've tarnished the whole "free tequila" experience.

there are times when i really love my life. this was definitely one of them. :-)

Neutrality

(sigh) ... a little old woman came in a little while ago and said that her friend had reccommended she read some of Ann Coulter's books. I showed her to the shelf where they are located (the one's that aren't checked out, that is) and pulled a couple down for her. Our conversation went something like this:

LOW: "My friend said she's a real good writer,"
me: "Mmph."
LOW: "Are these primarily political?"
me: "Yes, she's a conservative writer."
LOW: "I hope I'll understand these! I don';t know if I'll be able to understand them."
me: "Oh, I don't think you'll have any trouble understanding them."
