THEN SPREADING NORTHWARD TO THE WISCONSIN LINE BY AROUND 3 AM. THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES LATE TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY. TOTAL STORM ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BY LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON SOUTH OF A PONTIAC...TO WATSEKA...TO RENSSELAER LINE...WITH STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 8 INCHES FURTHER TO THE NORTH ACROSS THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR. NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUE INTO TUESDAY...WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH POSSIBLE. THE COMBINATION OF THE SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL PRODUCE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...WITH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS DEVELOPING IN SOME AREAS. CPS teachers are sitting around with their fingers crossed for a 4AM snow storm. It's the only way CPS will cancel school. If not, I'm screwed for rush hour in the AM and PM.
a snow day would rule hard. we'll see what happens.

DC got a semi-snowpocalypse of its own, which is actually preferable to the freezing rain we had to put up with yesterday. So glad I live within a few minutes' walk of work; trundling through ankle-deep snow on slippery sidewalks is far better than having the freeway turn into a massive bumper-car arena.
